Licensing Guru Al Kahn Joins Toon Goggles as Chairman of the Board
Los Angeles, October 4, 2016
Al Kahn, the former founder of 4Kids Entertainment and licensing wiz behind Pokemon’s successful entry into U.S. markets, has been appointed as Chairman of the Board for Toon Goggles. Over his career, Kahn generated over $15 billion in gross product sales and brings his proven expertise to the on-demand children’s video service.
“Kahn will be spearheading our expansion in entertainment content, branding, marketing and major global partnerships,” said Stephen L. Hodge, Chief Executive Officer of Toon Goggles. “We are thrilled to have an executive with his accomplishments join forces with us.”
As the newly appointed chairman of Toon Goggles, Kahn plans to redefine the standard content viewing model. His goal will be to bring a completely “new experience” to kids by embracing Toon Goggles’ breakthrough free video on-demand platform, providing premier “can’t miss” content and pushing the technological boundaries of the platform. Together, the clever combination of these three elements will create an entirely new experience for children everywhere.
Kahn is the founder of 4Kids Entertainment and served as the company’s chairman and chief executive officer for almost 25 years before stepping down in 2011. Earlier this year, Kahn co-founded CraneKahn, an international children’s entertainment and licensing company, with writer, actress and producer Jillian Crane. CraneKahn focuses on products and experiences in the new economy.
An inductee into both LIMA’s Murray Altschuler Licensing Hall of Fame and the Kidscreen Hall of Fame, Kahn has been responsible for many of the biggest licensing hits of the last few decades — including Cabbage Patch Kids, Pokemon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Yu-Gi-Oh! He is also credited with the marketing and licensing programs for iconic brands like Nintendo and its top properties, James Bond and Polly Pocket.
